Amazon installs collection lockers in Co-op stores

Amazon has joined forces with Co-operative Group to host its collection lockers in the grocer’s stores, allowing customers to pick up goods ordered online at their convenience. The lockers have been installed in four London stores – Chelsea, Edenbridge, New Malden and Parsons Green, and two further shops in Alderley Edge and Stockport.

The UK’s online retail market is set to grow 13 per cent in 2012 – cashing in a huge £77bn. The forecast further strengthens the UK’s position as a global leader in the market, second only to the US in terms of market value. The market has exploded in recent years, with 30 per cent of all cross border trade in Europe, going through UK retailers.

Tesco plans targeted approach with Clubcard data

Tesco has revealed plans to segment its 18 million Clubcard customers into separate groups when they log onto the company’s website. The segmentation will be based on their previous spending patterns, with a key test being whether the customer has previously bought a large number of Tesco Finest-branded items – the supermarket chain’s premium range of foods.
